SSE Enterprise Energy Solutions has been shortlisted for a hat-trick of awards at the prestigious Building Controls Industry Associations (BCIA) Awards 2016.
Now in its ninth year, the annual BCIA Awards brings together engineers, manufacturers, suppliers and distributors to celebrate the best companies, products and people for their achievements and positive contributions in the Building Controls industry. With the BCIA Awards 2016 receiving the highest number of entries ever, up 57% on 2015, SSE Enterprise Energy Solutions has seen off some serious competition just to make the cut.
SSE Enterprise Energy Solutions provides a range of services to business customers to help identify improvements in their management of energy consumption and building environments. It also offers services to businesses to help install, control and optimise building management systems which can help customers dramatically reduce their energy consumption and help contribute towards energy efficiency and carbon reduction targets.
The company has been shortlisted for two awards in the Energy Management category: Glasgow City Council Energy ICT solution and RS Components BEMS installation; and one award in the Technical Innovator of the Year category: Teesside University Conference and Teaching Facility, The Curve.
The Energy Management category recognises projects which demonstrate how building controls and/or Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) have been applied to increase energy efficiency in a building or building complex. The Glasgow City Council Energy ICT solution project has to date delivered savings of 3,390 tons of CO2 and 6.56GWh of energy, saving the local authority £656,200 in the process.
The RS Components project has realised energy savings amounting to around 20% against pre-installation energy costs in the first 12 months after installation, with the system already reaching payback.
The Technical Innovator of the Year (Projects) category recognises projects which demonstrate innovative thinking on the installation or service/maintenance of building controls or BEMS.
Kevin Greenhorn, Managing Director of SSE Enterprise Energy Solutions, said: “To be shortlisted for three awards is testament to the hard work and endeavour of our teams in delivering innovative energy solutions to help businesses better manage their energy requirements. With this year’s awards receiving record nominations, just reaching the shortlist is a solid achievement for the team.”
SSE Enterprise Energy Solutions is consistently in the running for awards which recognise innovation in energy management, and in 2013 won the Energy Management Award for work with Coventry University.
The BCIA awards ceremony takes place on Thursday 12 May 2016 at the Hilton Metropole in Birmingham with top actor and comedian Rufus Hound presenting the awards.
