Brand-Rex partner SSE Enterprise Telecoms has been selected as the sole company contracted to carry out the forthcoming data installation work at the University of Reading. The project, which commenced in autumn 2012, is due for completion in summer 2016 and will maintain continuity of the University's telephony and communications infrastructure.
The installations consist of Brand-Rex GigaPlus, 10GPlus and FibrePlus solutions.
SSE Enterprise Telecoms has a close working relationship with the University of Reading Estates Team, having been a preferred contractor for over 10 years. During this time a whole host of services have been provided ranging from structured cabling systems, voice networks, new fibre backbones and laser 'point to point' wireless links.
SSE Enterprise Telecoms has won the 4 year Measured Term Contract for Voice and Data infrastructure for the third consecutive time. Project manager David Young, from the University of Reading's Estates and Facilities Department said: "Awarding contracts under a framework agreement allows us to work with a small number of contractors that we trust to deliver the projects we need on time, within budget and most importantly to the standards we require and expect. They quickly become familiar with our premises, safety rules and procedures, and we therefore have confidence that they will provide a consistency high quality service".
“These particular contracts were awarded on the basis of safety, competence and price. SSE Enterprise Telecoms scored well on all three counts, and notably the health and safety criteria. Here at the University, we regard SSE's standards of health and safety as something to be measured against."
The University caters for 17,000 students across three main campuses in Reading town centre and Henley-on-Thames. SSE Enterprise Telecoms will be working across all three campuses to carry out the data installation work.
