UK’s ‘Smartest’ street to debut at Great Exhibition of the North

The first street in the world to pioneer electric lighting, and now more than a century on, it is set to achieve another feat as the UK’s ‘smartest’ street. Announced today by Mayflower,Cisco, Newcastle City Council, Connexin, and Quantela, throughout the Great Exhibition of the North, Mosley Street and the connecting Neville Street will be home to Internet of Things (IoT) sensors that will help showcase the amazing possibilities that smart places create for people living and working in them.

SSE Enterprise LED light scheme to cut Liverpool city’s carbon footprint

A multi-million-pound scheme is to begin this week that will see almost two thousand Liverpool streets fitted with new LED lights.

 

Working in partnership with Liverpool City Council, SSE Enterprise will replace a total of 15,000 street lights, serving 1,890 streets, with “white light” energy saving lanterns over the next year.

Good luck to SSE’s Robert Cameron who is a finalist at the SECTT (Scottish Electrical Charitable Trust Training Trust) Stage 2 Apprentice of the Year competition.

 

Today (9th Oct) is the awards ceremony at the Original Hotel, outside Edinburgh, so many congratulations to him for making it to the finals.

You’re Hired! Apprentice Lewis Fiore aims for glory after reaching finals of the Electrical Industry Awards

Best of luck to apprentice Lewis Fiore, who has been nominated for the finals of the Electrical Industry Awards 2017 in recognition of his commitment to achieving, ‘the highest standards possible.’

Lewis started his Apprenticeship with SSE Enterprise Contracting In September 2014 and, according to Apprentice Coordinator Micky Jerrom, it was readily apparent that he would thrive as an apprentice within the business.

Now aged 24, he is now taking responsibility for running jobs that he is working on and has even progressed to supervising his own apprentices and guiding them through the process.
