SSE’s core business is energy and communications and is the best placed to guide you through your ‘smart technology journey’, from conception to delivery.
The World is changing
Zero carbon and gigabit speeds for all are now targets, not dreams. Increased connectivity and technology can make our day-to-day life more liveable, efficient, sustainable and safe, delivering ‘smart services’ that drive down cost and improve efficiency.
Core challenges are the same
Our solution
SSE’s core business is energy infrastructure and communications and will guide you through your ‘smart technology journey’, from conception to delivery. ‘Smart’, to SSE, means connecting assets together through platforms, allowing information to be gathered to get insights to help deliver customer outcomes.
We own one of the largest fibre networks in the UK and have over 40 years’ experience in asset development, and management. We deliver a wide range of energy services and are at the forefront in making these solutions smarter – smart buildings, smart street lighting, next generation solar, fibre in the sewer, smart grid, smart EV charging, energy as a service and smart city.
Utilising these tools, we will work in partnership with you to develop, fund, own and operate innovative, sustainable and smart solutions for cities and places – understanding your challenges and goals, building the commercial models and the required delivery teams, bringing in funding and partners where appropriate
SSE Enterprise has the expertise to find and deliver the best solution for you, allowing you to focus your resources where it is most needed to achieve your aims.
SSE Enterprise has played a pivotal role in the deployment of London’s first large scale, zero-emission, single deck bus fleet – the largest of its kind in Europe. Providing the electrical infrastructure for the fleet’s charging points was a complex but vital component of this ground breaking initiative.
The prestigious Riverlight development enjoys spectacular views across the Thames. With 811 opulent residential properties and 3,850 square meters of commercial space, it’s a huge project with construction costs in excess of £200 million.
SSE Enterprise Utilities has worked with developers, St James, on the project for more than five years and has been involved in the design of all the site utilities: electricity, gas, water, waste and, significantly, a low-carbon heating and cooling system.
Elmsbrook is the flagship first phase of the North West Bicester eco town development led by residential property group A2Dominion. Once complete, Elmsbrook will feature 393 zero carbon homes, a primary school, local shop, eco pub and community centre. This revolutionary eco development is part of a wider ambition to create up to 6,000 new zero carbon properties for North West Bicester.
This means forming long term partnerships to develop, design, build, operate and look after customers. Partnerships bring the stability that reduces risk and provides the desired control to bring about lasting customer benefits.
We offer you partnership models where we can build, own, operate and maintain bespoke solutions. All this designed, financed and delivered by SSE.
Mayflower currently monitors and manages over 155,000 street lights in Hampshire using its Central Management System (CMS). The CMS installation provides an opportunity for city managers to utilise the communications network to bring data from additional compatible sensors.
In April 2016, Amey approached Mayflower to discuss an alternative solution to the excessive gritting of the highways in Hampshire.
Try this simple sum. Let’s say a kilowatt (kWh) costs 10p and a hotel room costs £100 per night. How many rooms cover the cost of 1.5 million kWh?At SSE Enterprise, we make energy saving concepts as real as we can for our hotelier customers. Of course, no guest ever left a five star review of your heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system (HVAC) on a hotel rating website. And if no-one complains, all may seem well with your HVAC, which is why hotels often put ‘behind the scenes’ upgrades on the back boiler.
Today the area is celebrated for its vibrant communities, abundant wildlife, and its rich and dramatic landscape.
To help preserve this beautiful area and its residents’ quality of life, we’ve been working with Calderdale Council to reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption for a variety of vital community services.
The first phase of the project demanded a broad range of high-level energy saving expertise. It began with expert analysis to find the best energy conservation measures that could be installed or upgraded across 14 separate buildings – ranging from a theatre, to a day centre, and a swimming pool.
This lets you both maximise your energy savings and still achieve the optimal environmental conditions that ensure all your people always feel comfortable. SSE Remote Optimal means that you are now able to control the energy management systems of your most diffuse, complex estates with much more finesse and precision to deliver tangible results.
SSE plc is one of Britain’s biggest and greenest energy businesses. We’re focused on providing energy reliably and securely. We’re also committed to innovating to make sure that energy is sustainable, clean and efficient. By decoupling energy efficiency from our customers’ capital constraints, our EPC solution helps us deliver on these commitments. That’s the big picture, but there are other reasons to make us your EPC partner.
Whilst the warnings are stark that the world is on a non-sustainable path, a net-zero carbon target has been set.
However, targets alone do not drive progress.
SSE Enterprise’s core business is in energy and communications services, so we are best placed to guide you through your ‘smart energy journey’.
